Sports Out Loud, the only print publication dedicated to the life of the gay athlete, will officially re-launch as Compete, The Gay Sports Magazine, it was announced last week. The first issue of the newly designed periodical debuts on newsstands with the January/Februay 2009 issue.

$350K to Get Michael Jackson’s Juices Flowing

Following the drubbing Michael Jackson got from American media following his child molestation trial and subsequent acquittal, the prince of Bahrain allegedly shelled out $350,000 to get Michael Jackson’s creative juices flowing, the New York Daily News reported. Now the prince is suing Jackson for failing to record an album.

Focus on the Family Lays Off 202 Workers

Focus on the Family will eliminate 202 jobs, making it the biggest layoff in the history of James Dobson's Christian ministry based in Colorado Springs. Coincidentally, layoffs were announced just after California voters passed Prop. 8. Focus on the Family contributed a total $622,000 of non-monetary support to pass California's marriage ban.

Jerry Brown Presses California Supreme Court on Proposition 8

Jerry Brown, former California governor and current California Attorney General, is pressing the California Supreme Court to swiftly review five lawsuits that have challenged the constitutionality of the anti-gay marriage Proposition 8. That said, Brown also argued in a filing on Monday that the court should not impose a stay that would prevent Proposition 8 from taking effect while the cases were pending – a move that would effectively put same-sex marriage on hold in California until the court ruled.
